6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS:
"Mysticism circuit / Amarakaeri, Manu & Collpa".
First day:
Early departure from the imperial city of Cusco, the journey is along a road that crosses through part of the Andes mountain range as we head toward Paucartambo, a traditional, Andean village where we will eat lunch. As we continue towards Acjanaco (Manu National park) you will be able to see the forest from a height of 3500 metres. (sometimes the view is restricted by clouds). Afterwards we descend through the forest where we will see giant ferns, birds and orchids. We then make a stop at an observation point to see the famous cockerels of the rocks before continuing to Pilcopata where we spend the night.
Second day:
After an early wake up we enjoy a delicious breakfast and then head by road to Shintuya. From there we take a boat trip down the Madre de Dios River, during which we will enjoy majestic jungle and observe herons and macaws. After around four hours on the river we arrive at the Traditional Medicine Centre. Here we enjoy lunch followed by a walk around local trails taking in the local fauna. In the evening those who wish will have the chance to take part in an ayahuasaca ceremony with the most famous shaman in the area.
Third Day:
After an early breakfast we head down the Manu River which takes us to the Matsiguenka House located inside Manu National Park close to Lake Salvador. During the journey we will see caimans, herons and turtles amongst others. In the afternoon we visit Lake Salvador and take a trip round the lake in a catamaran in search of the giant river otters.
Fourth Day:
We set off early leaving the park to visit the magnificent macaw "collpa" or clay lick where we will enjoy the fascinating spectacle that occurs there.
During the afternoon we arrive at the lodge and after lunch we will walk several trails close by.
Fifth Day:
Early in the morning we get another chance to visit the macaw "collpa" then we return to the lodge to get ready to depart.
After arrival at the Traditional Medicine Centres lodge we visit a mammal "collpa" located close by the lodge, if we are lucky we may get to see large animals such as tapirs and monkeys.
Sixth Day:
After breakfast we make our way back to Cusco.
